The Los Angeles Times has been a daily part of our family routine for longer than I can remember. One of the cool sections of the Sports "Morning Briefing" is Jerry Crowe's Text messages from press row. . . This morning, Jerry gives this new L.A. Rams blog a shout. Check it out here.

I heard about your blog from the paper this morning. I miss having the Rams in town (even in the OC).
As for the St. Louis Rams, I have certainly never been a fan. (I don't understand people in LA who cheer for the Rams and Raiders. That's like cheering for your ex-girlfriend when she sleeps with another guy.) I enjoy their current futility and I just about broke my roommates TV back in 2000 when the bitch Georgia talked about how winning the Super Bowl justified their move. (I'm sure some Houstonians would have been equally bitter if the Titans had won).
Thanks for starting this site.
I have been a Rams fan since 1965. Theny could play their home games on the moon and I would still passionately cheer for them. From Roman Gabriel to John Hadl, from James Harris to Jim Everett, from Kurt Warner to Marc Bulger I love the team. Some of my favorite players are Tom Mack, Deacon Jones, Lamar Lundy, Merlin Olsen, Rosy Grier (fearsome foursome), Lawerence McCutheon, JIm Everett, Dennis Harrah, Jack and Jim Youngblood, Pat Thomas, Maxie Baughn, Myron Pottios, Barry Redden, Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Jackie Slater, Rich Saul, Ken Iman, Eric Dickerson (the greatest running back of all time)and so many more. Sure, we're going through tough times now, but our day will come. Go Rams!
I was hooked at age 11 in 1955. Even though I lived near Chicago, the Ram's horn helmets and Crazylegs Hirsch started something I've never been able to stop.
Coolest memory was a Ram's/Bears game at Wrigley Field in '55. Fans were actually allowed to wander around on the field while the players shooks hands after the game ended. I got autographs from Tank Younger and Harlan Hill (Bears WR). Tank's jersey had blood stains on it. Are you kidding! I stood next to him and he signed my autograph book. Hard to believe some 53 years later. Now if only my mom had saved the autograph book instead of the entire damn collection of my 5th grade book reports.
Found out about this site from the text messages too. Good idea. A question are any of you St. Louis Rams fans? I couldn't do it myself. I left them when they left us.
Even though I hate the St. Louis Rams, I remained a Jackie Slater fan.
Thanks for your comments. It's interesting how some fans have remained loyal, and others felt deserted. I agree that Georgia's comments after the Super Bowl were enough to make L.A. fans boil. She ruined the Rams here. Isn't it ironic that she died in L.A.?
Ellsworth11 - great memory! Blood stained jersey!!! My dad's favorite Rams teams were in those years. I became a fan in '69, so I vividly remember the Gabriel, Olson, Deacon days.
I'm 45 years old and I still root for them sob. Even after they left I asked myself one question: If your best friend moved to another city would he still be your best friend? The answer was YES! I had many friends and family give up on them but I never will unless LA gets another team.
Raul,
That's exactly the way I looked at it. It's tough to just give up on them after being connected for so long.
Remember when the Ram QB controversey (the media needed one to write about)was Bill Wade or some other guy ? Still a bit later Bill Munson or Roman Gabriel...? My fave Ram was Eddie Meador #21. I would keep count of all the tackles he made on televised games. I use to watch all Ram games on TV 1959 on. Wanted to be like Del Shofner and Carolyn Dale or Bucky Pope. David Deacon Jones #75 the greatest defensive player of all time.
I was a fan of the different iterations of the Fearsome Foursome in the 60's and 70's. I have many pics of the Rams taken from every imaginable sports magazine in existence at the time.
